slow it down, make it stopbefore my heart is going to pop• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Naomi awoke that morning after having yet another nightmare about werewolves and vampires battling on the beach. She was slightly disturbed by it and wanted to get away from home. She quickly ate what her mother handed her for breakfast not even really paying attention to what she was eating. She grabbed her Ipod and cell phone and was on her way outside. Mimi took in a deep breath of air and exhaled happily. She was then on her way with a little pep in her step while listening to some of her favorite songs. She's a Lady by Forever the Sickest Kids started playing and she smiled as she sang softly along with the lead singer. She smiled and tapped her hand on her thigh. "She's a lady, and ladies shouldn't be messed with." She sang on key with a grin. The song matched her mood and she tapped her hand on her leg as she walked. A soft breeze blew past her, rustling the leaves in the trees surrounding her house. She smiled and looked up at the sky seeing gray clouds. That didn't surprise her much seeing as it was always cloudy in La Push. Naomi continued walking anyway, not really caring if it rained because she actually loved it. She thought with a smirk that she'd put her Ipod and phone somewhere where they couldn't get wet and dance around in the rain like she had when she was a little girl. She shook that thought from her head knowing that it'd be around town by sun down that she'd gone completely crazy, and there would be a HUGE mess to clean up just because she'd had one immature moment. That's how it was in a small town like La Push, everyone knew everything there was to know about you and if you didn't like that than too bad, because that's how it was. Mimi sighed before remembering randomly the day that she'd seen Embry shift. She'd been angry with the guys and for some odd reason Emb got heated and shifted right there. She thought he probably would've ripped her face off if it hadn't have been for Jake and Quil calming him down. Thinking about the two of them brought a pang of love through out her whole body. The three of them were her best friends and she loved them more than she loved her actual blood related family, well Embry was her blood related family, and Jake and Quil might as well have been.
Naomi hadn't realized she was on the cliffs until after she stepped and could see over onto the beach. She sighed and sat down right there with her legs dangling over the side of the cliff. While resting her weight on her hands behind her she tapped her foot in the air along with the beat of the song, lost in the music she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings at all. Mimi's heart beat regularly though her mind was racing with thoughts about Embry and the pack. She flinched when the music grew louder and turned it down so that the ear buds in her ears weren't vibrating her entire body. She furrowed her dark eyebrows and watched the waves below crash onto the sore violently. Mimi sighed and shook her head thinking about people she'd left behind in Seattle. About how upset she'd been at first and then when she met Emb and the others it all went away. Flashes of her dream the night before came in front of her vision and she watched in horror as the worst part was reenacted in front of her. A russet colored wolf, a chocolatey brown wolf, and a gray wolf with black spots stood in front of her as a vampire came closer. She tried her hardest to scream out to the wolves but, her voice never reached her mouth. It was caught in her throat and she found herself dry sobbing as the vampire attacked the russet wolf. "JAKE!" she had screamed in the dream as the wolf was tossed to the side. And then the leech tossed the chocolate colored wolf away. She cried harder as she watched Quil's dark eyes blink a couple of times and land on her. And then the vampire turned to the gray wolf and she'd had enough and threw herself in front of it, and that was when she woke up.
The dream played over and over for a few seconds before she snapped out of it and looked back down at the ocean below. She randomly wondered if she jumped would anyone miss her. "Maybe."
her consciousness said. Naomi stood and kicked a couple of rocks down the side. A breeze caught her black curls and whipped them around her head as she stared calmly down at the water below. Just one step would send her tumbling over the edge and she knew her dream would never come true. Her dreams had a freaky way of coming true especially when she didn't want them to. Mimi gulped and watched the swirling white mixed with black below. She wondered what everyone would think of her if she really did jump. She supposed she'd be the town's gossip for two days flat and then everyone would go on with their lives as if nothing ever happened. With that revelation she frowned. Naomi began wondering what her parents would do when someone found her lifeless body floating on the water. Cry? Maybe. She sighed and stepped back from the edge. No need in killing herself that day. Life wasn't that bad, but it wasn't great either. She sat cross legged again and tapped her finger on her tan thigh while watching the horizon. Nothing much there, though she knew the pink, golden, red, ad orange sun must be hiding behind the thick gray clouds hanging low, close to the ground. She sighed and turned her attention to the lone tree on the cliff top and the leaves, thick and green hanging from the low branches. Naomi shrugged and looked back over to her Ipod and changed the song to Your Call by Secondhand Serenade and hummed along with the lyrics. She knew it probably wasn't normal for a teenage girl to be sitting alone listening to music by herself on a cliff but she really didn't care. She sang the song quietly hoping to god or whoever was up there that no one would hear her. Naomi knew she was an okay singer, but she had terrible stage fright and didn't really like singing in front of people or anywhere where someone could hear her. Like in the shower, she never sang there because she was pretty positive her voice could be heard from the rest of the house. She began tapping her foot along with the beat of the slow song and thought about imprints. I was born to tell you I love She thought about how the connection between the imprint and the imprinted. Like gravity moves, Jake had said. She sighed wondering if she'd ever find her soulmate, if such thing existed but, it did for the pack and their mates so maybe it did for everyone else as well. Mimi wasn't going to get her hopes up though, and go gallivanting around town looking for Mr. Right. She was sure he was out there somewhere and she'd find him one day. She shook the thoughts away and just payed attention to the lyrics, and let the music carry her away from the place she was actually at, and she was free. Like she always had been while listening to music, she was free from everyday life and no worry in the world could touch her as she rose her head and closed her eyes. Jacob rolled around in his half asleep stage, tossing and turning nonstop. His house was at the normal freezing temperature to help him endurance his own heat that radiated off his body. Ever since Bella had gone missing he hadn't gotten any sleep at all really. Even when she returned sound, a vampire, but still safe Jake found himself waking up because of his growls or Billy shaking him awake to make him stop shaking the house with his tossing around. Giving up his willpower to sleep in for once, the werewolf boy slowly lifted his eyelids to find himself on the living room couch. The television was turned on and he was sprawled out. One arm was hanging off the edge of the red couch, his other arm on top of the back of the couch, both his legs were over the arm rest and off to the side slightly. Blinking a few times, Jake composed his body so he was laying straight out, but still in a relaxed position. The black haired man glimpsed at the television, which was currently on mute. It was currently on the news channel, speaking of the sight of an unusual paw print found on the edge of La Push forest. Jacob slightly smirked to himself, his eyes still only half open as he did so. It must of been Sam's pack that made the mistake since his pack hadn't taken any patrols out yesterday. He had ever so kindly given them all a day off since no vampires, besides the Cullen's and Bella, had been scented or sighted recently. Though, inside Jake was hoping that the vampires that changed Bella would show up around here so he could rip them to shreds. That would be quite nice. Stretching out his arms, he looked outside seeing the sun had just begun rising, so it was still pretty early in the morning, most people wouldn't be up at sunrise.
Jacob let out a forceful yawn, before swinging his feet over the side of the couch lazily. Despise the fact that he was having trouble getting a good night's rest; Jake was considerably happy for a pleasant change. Not that he was in a horrible mood before, but he had only been content, which isn't exactly happy. Itching the back of his head; the muscular man tried to remember why he was on the couch and not in his bed in the first place. Thinking back to last night he remembered dropping Billy off at Sue's house since they planned some kind of spend the night as friends thing and than he drove back home half dead from exhaustion. After getting home without driving off the side of the road, he stumbled inside and collapsed on the couch. Slumber had taken over his body instantly, but during the middle of the night he woke up from accidentally falling off the couch, which he vaguely remembered. Trying to go back to sleep hadn't worked out too well, so Jake had turned on the television for a little while and then, he supposed, he must of fallen back to sleep. Gaining that memory, the werewolf pushed himself up to his feet, staggering a few steps forward. He hated getting up in the morning, it was his least favorite thing to do. At least this morning Billy wasn't there to nag at him to go do something useful or hit Jake until he woke up because he was snarling and punching the wall from a bad dream.
A loud vibration up-roared from the bottom of Jake's stomach, begging for something to eat. Licking his lips, the tall man walked to the kitchen, ducking own on the doorway so that he wouldn't hit his head against the frame. Jake's eyes skimmed over the cupboards for some food that seemed appealing, which was almost everything. One trait that came with being a werewolf was being almost constantly hungry at the time. "Cereal... eggs... pancakes... fruit..." he said out loud, listing the food as he saw it. Opening the fridge her saw plenty of things to make a huge sandwich, so that's what he decided on. Pulling out the supplies to make a massive turkey sandwich, he piled everything on, and took a giant bite out of it. Satisfied, Jacob walked out of the kitchen and back to the living room and flicked the television off since there was no longer need for it to be on. It only took a few monstrous bites before his sandwich was gone and Jake's stomach was content. Seeing the sun wasn't even close to rising to the mid sky, Jake decided it would be nice to get out of the house for a little while. At least enjoy the time he had alone. Putting on a pair of worn out jeans over his boxers, and nothing else, the werewolf headed outside his house and on to the Earth's carpet of green grass. There weren't many things to do around La Push and it was the average day with an overcast of gray clouds. There was a chilly breeze, but the wind wasn't picking up very much, so it wasn't too cold; although Jacob would have liked it to be. Scratching his mind for an activity to do; he suddenly remembered the bikes that he once rode with Bella and he still had his. "Why not," he muttered to himself, pacing over to his work garage. The bike was leaning against the wall with all it's glory and pride. Smirking, Jake pushed it outside his garage and into his dirt drive way. Jacob swung himself into the seat and clasped the gas instantly, jerking the bike forward, giving him a small thrill. Though, thrills were hard to get these days when you dealt with killing vampires and changing into a werewolf. Anything below that seemed like nothing.
The bike whipped past the small center of La Push where a few small shops were located. The black haired boy kept on riding his bike, until he got back on some back roads and started driving uphill. Jacob was heading toward the cliffs, which was a nice place to spend a few hours. Who knows... maybe he'll even do the traditional thing to do while going to the cliffs and have some fun cliff diving. Even though it seemed like a storm was racking up and the waves were most likely getting larger by the second, it wouldn't effect Jake. He was strong enough to swim in those deathly ocean waves and he even did once to save his friend. Slowing down, Jake parked a little while from the top pf the cliffs, in case anyone was up there. There was no need to accidentally hit someone with his bike. Jacob heard a soft singing voice and before the girl came into sight, he already knew who it was. It was Naomi, or Mimi, as he called her like most did. She was better known as Embry's cousin to the rest of the pack, but she and Jake tended to click defining well. Though he had never heard her sing and she was pretty damn good. Jacob smiled to himself, glad that he would have some decent company today that could distract him tortous mind. As Jacob caught sight of Mimi she was kicking pebbles and stones of the stones edge, acting like she was going to jump. Jacob caught his breath in shock, but didn't have to react to anything before she took a step back and sat down with a sigh. Mimi started to sing quietly to herself again, thankfully. Jacob could only handle so many suicide attempts some different people per year.
Walking up behind the dark brown haired girl he said, "I never knew you sang so well, Mi." There was no point on commenting what he had seen unless she decided to tell him. Jake didn't like to push people; he tended to be more laid back on his happy days. He was willing to wait patiently for Naomi to tell him his troubles. Jacob didn't mean to disturb anything if he did, but another strong personality trait of Jake's was being bold, but it why his emotions got out of hand sometimes. "So, you just up here to get away from everything?" he asked her, bending down to his knees beside her, folding his fingers together, letting his chocolate brown eyes shine. He was sure that Mimi would be delighted to see him, but he wasn't too sure after seeing her so close to that cliff's edge. Jake and Mi had started getting close after her close encounter with getting mauled by Embry, very much like how Emily did with Sam. If it hadn't been for him and Quil shifting pot on to counter attack Embry, than who knows what might have happened. Jake was sure that his friend wouldn't kill Mimi, but it was hard to say. When any of them shifted because of anger... almost anything seemed possible. Fighting off Embry hadn't been too hard since Quil was right at his side helping him. Her being the cousin of one of his pack member's, Jacob had seen her around offend and found her as a good stress reliever. He found her as a good source of comfort and friendship which was built on to that. Which is why is surprised him, seeing he looking down at those deathly crashing waves below her just minutes before. Jake always pictured Naomi has a light-hearted, sweet girl, but he'd been to quick to judge her current state of mind.

slow it down, make it stopbefore my heart is going to pop• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Naomi looked up when she heard someone walking towards her and saw Embry's friend Jacob Black standing there. "Thanks." She smiled lamely. "Awesome Naomi, just awesome" She thought chastising herself mentally. She looked up and thought that she suddenly was just seeing Jacob for the first time. He'd always just been Embry's friend but, looking at him she thought he was very attractive. And wondered why girls around town didn't throw themselves at him every chance they got. He was terribly adorable, with his shining chocolate colored eyes, that she knew got to an almost black color when he was upset, his messy black hair that practically begged everyone to run through fingers through it, his high cheek bones and russet colored skin, his built shoulders. Everything about Jacob Black was attractive. She wondered randomly if anyone found herself attractive, but pushed that thought from her mind when he asked her another question. "Oh, yeah I do, it helps me think." She spoke softly, knowing Jake could hear her even if she whispered. He was close to her now and she could feel the heat radiating off of him. Her cheeks darkened for a moment as she thought something about Jake. She remembered that day that Embry had shifted in front of her, and how Quil and Jacob had phased to protect her, in a hurry that hadn't had time to strip off their clothes and when they were all calm. She had three equally attractive Quilleuttes(sp?) naked in front of her, one of which was her cousin. She shuddered remembering Embry and then smirked when she thought about the dark cheeks all three had as they hid behind trees.
Mimi smiled at the memory and looked back at Jacob, she pressed PAUSE on her Ipod and pulled the ear studs from her ears. "You'll never guess who I ran into at the playground the other day." she said scooting closer to Jacob as a breeze blew at them, she huddled close to her warm friend. "Don't tell Embry it'll probably make him mad that I was close to one of them, but I talked to..Bella." she said looking up at her friend and praying to everything she could think of that he wouldn't get angry like she knew the rest of the pack would. If he did she'd remind him that she was only a human and couldn't protect herself if he phased. Naomi loved the guys but she knew where to get them if they ever got angry with her. She wasn't sure why she decided to tell Jake, but she did anyway. Mimi sighed and ran a hand through her unruly black curls. "How's your dad?" she asked. She had always loved Billy Black, he was a nice old man that listened to her random ramblings and was there for her when she learned about the pack. He was always like a second father for her, well more like a father considering her own was too busy with work to even acknowledge her presence. Billy Black was the kind of man that every woman wanted but looked over because of the bad boys. And she knew Jake would be just like him. Stubborn as a mule, yet has a heart of gold. She smiled up at the other Native American teenager and sighed as a piece of his black hair fell over his eyes. Naomi easily pushed it back and pulled her hand back to her knee. "I'm hungry." She stated randomly. She knew Jake probably would be too, considering he and the guys were always hungry.
She got up off of her behind and stretched her limbs. And then plopped right back down against the tree. She watched the horizon with a far away look in her eyes and thought about all the times she'd wished she could just fly away from everyone and everything. She hadn't wished about that since she moved to La Push, but she randomly thought about it. Being free had always been her dream. To get away from her parents that didn't care and everyone in Seattle that cared too much. Life in La Push made her realize that not everyone was like that. That people there cared, but not too much or not enough. She smiled at memories of baking things with Emily, Kim, and Claire. With Leah standing in there bitching about anything that came to her mind. Mimi giggled at that and looked over at Jacob knowing he would probably be wondering why she was laughing. "I just remembered hanging out with the girls and Leah being there to bitch." Naomi smiled, knowing Jake would probably be surprised seeing as the younger girl never really cursed. But, when it came to talking about Leah she was okay with it. She smiled and rolled her eyes, a habit she had perfected from Kim and Claire, who rolled their eyes whenever Quil or Jared said anything even remotely stupid. She sighed and pulled her knees closer to her body. "I wonder if Emily is cooking anything?" She asked Jacob. She knew Em wouldn't mind at all if the two teenagers joined whatever meal she was making, unless it was a romantic one for Sam and Emily only. Then Naomi would be happy to not be there. Mimi ran a hand through her hair, another habit she had started since moving there, she got it from Embry who did it every time something stressed him out. notes • blah! it's been awhile but i finally replied. word count • 976 tag • Katie! outfit • h e r elyrics • the show by lenka credit • AMANDA IN WONDERLAND !? @ caution
